Hypnotherapy is a scientifically proven form of therapy that uses hypnosis to guide people into an altered state of consciousness called the hypnotic state. In that hyper-suggestible state, the hypnotherapist uses goal-oriented suggestions and images to change the way the mind responds to specific triggers.
Imagine your mind as an iceberg: the conscious you; the thoughts, feelings and decisions you notice; is just the tip above water. Beneath the surface lies the vast unconscious, where habits, emotional triggers and automatic responses reside. It’s one thing to decide to eat healthily, but when stress strikes, your unconscious patterns can steer you straight toward comfort food.
Hypnotherapy provides a gentle bridge to that deeper level. Through guided relaxation and focused attention, you enter a natural trance-like state; alert yet deeply receptive. In this state, your therapist offers targeted suggestions and powerful imagery designed to reshape those hidden responses. We may also revisit and reframe past memories, altering the emotional associations that fuel unhelpful habits.
As new neural pathways take hold, old automatic responses give way to healthier choices; perhaps a calming walk replaces chocolate after a tough day. In essence, hypnotherapy “reprograms” the unconscious to support your conscious goals, making lasting change not only possible but surprisingly natural.
Your first session lasts 90 minutes. We will spend the first 30 minutes clarifying your goals and uncovering your core motivation for change. Then, I’ll guide you gently into the hypnotic state; no effort required on your part beyond listening to my words. Once you’re deeply relaxed, we’ll communicate directly with your unconscious mind to align it with your goals. Finally, I’ll bring you back to full awareness, feeling refreshed and empowered.
The hypnotic state sits on a spectrum between relaxed wakefulness and light sleep; and you’ve likely experienced it yourself. Imagine “highway hypnosis,” when you drive miles with no memory of the journey yet instantly respond to brake lights. Or the deep focus that makes you miss someone calling your name. Athletes know it as “flow,” that effortless immersion where time seems to vanish. These everyday moments reveal how natural; and accessible; the hypnotic state really is.
Hypnotherapy is like learning a new language or taking an exam. You can cram everything into your mind the day before, get really good results on the day of the exam and forget everything the day after. If instead you spread your studying sessions over a few weeks or practice those new words in your mind and in your life, that new knowledge will stay for a very long time.
All of that to say that you will feel the difference after the first session but you will need follow up sessions. Most of my clients need an average of 6 sessions, so we can tweak what needs to be tweaked from one session to the next, and we can strengthen what needs to be strengthened. By the time they get to that last session they feel confident they can go on on their own.

The smoking cessation package includes:
- an initial 90 minutes consultation when we get your mind ready to change ahead of THE stop smoking session the following week. This session is recorded so that you can listen to it at home as many times as you can so that it feels really easy to leave as the next session as a non-smoker.
